The Christmas season is coming to Paris. From November 1st, the city gradually begins to dress up for the festive season, with Christmas decorations and lights appearing in some of the most beautiful areas of the capital. However, Paris is not decorated for Christmas everywhere. Unlike some other European capitals, the festive atmosphere here is concentrated around particular streets, squares, department stores, cafes, restaurants, and Christmas markets. So, if you are looking for the best places for a Christmas photoshoot in Paris, here are some of my favorite locations to capture the festive atmosphere of the city.

1. Place Vendôme and Rue Saint-Honoré. Place Vendôme is beautifully decorated during the Christmas season. Right nearby is Rue Saint-Honoré, home to boutiques like Chanel and Dior, where elegant Christmas decorations, lights, and Parisian architecture make a lovely background for festive photos. I recommend coming here in the late afternoon, around4 or 5 PM, when the Christmas lights are illuminated. The combination of the evening light and festive decorations creates a beautiful mood.

2. You can walk from Place Vendôme towards Jardin des Tuileries. During the Christmas season, a traditional Christmas market takes place there. It’s festive and lively, though it can be quite crowded. For a Christmas photoshoot in Paris, I would recommend using the Christmas market for a few atmospheric photographs, then continuing the session in the Tuileries Garden itself, which offers more space for walking and natural photos. There’s also a carousel near the market that can add a charming detail to your Christmas photos in Paris.

3. Many Parisian cafes and restaurants decorate their windows and facades for Christmas. One example is Café Gustave near the Eiffel Tower, which is very convenient for a Christmas photo session.

4. Avenue Montaigne is also beautifully decorated and worth visiting in the late afternoon when the lights are on. Avenue Montaigne is also a perfect choice if you’re looking for that elegant Parisian atmosphere with festive lights. Remember, Paris may not be decorated for Christmas as extensively as some other European capitals, but the decorations are concentrated in certain areas, which makes it easy to find several charming spots for your Christmas photoshoot in Paris.

5. Galerie Vivienne is one of Paris’s most enchanting hidden gems, especially during the Christmas season. This historic covered passage, with its elegant glass ceiling, intricate mosaic floors, and beautiful neoclassical architecture, offers a romantic atmosphere.

During the festive season, warm golden lights and Christmas decorations bring an extra touch of magic. The soft glow of the boutiques, the reflections on the patterned floor, and the natural symmetry of the passage create the perfect setting for elegant, cinematic photographs.
